Volatile Logic Array for Subversive Signal Interpretation
Artifact Classification: Vulcan Cadet-Class Tactical Anomaly – Type IV
Designation: Saavik
Form: 14HP Eurorack Module, Multi-Gate XOR or NAND Processor
Finish: Midnight Alloy with Split-Glyph Engraving
Maker: Monke of the Northern Quadrant
Operational Philosophy:
Where Sarek seeks harmony, Saavik questions the premise. Built on the same foundational architecture but armed with XOR or NAND cores, Saavik is not bound by consensus — it thrives on contradiction.
Truth, in this context, is complicated. XOR gates revel in exclusivity; NAND gates deny even absolute agreement. Every signal becomes a candidate for reevaluation. Every patch point a potential mutiny.
To patch Saavik is to introduce instability with intent. Controlled rebellion.
Logical insubordination.
Functional Overview:
3×3 XOR Gate Array: Output is HIGH only when an odd number of inputs are HIGH — disagreement is rewarded.
2×4 XOR Gate Network: Produces output only when paired inputs differ. If both inputs match, output is LOW.
2×2 OR Combiner: Resolves partial agreement into affirmative logic
3×1 OR Combiner: Any one of three signals may raise the final flag
Or
3×3 NAND Gate Array: Output remains HIGH unless all inputs are HIGH — complete agreement results in silence.
2×4 NAND Gate Network: Pairs of inputs are evaluated; output is LOW only when both inputs are HIGH.
2×2 OR Combiner: Resolves partial agreement into affirmative logic
3×1 OR Combiner: Any one of three signals may raise the final flag
Same layout and patch philosophy as Sarek
Internal chip configurations easily swapped via socketed ICs (optional mod)
Field Deployment Notes:
Saavik does not replace Sarek — it challenges it. In complex generative systems, this module serves as a source of rhythmic subversion and conditional noise.
It denies predictability and injects intentional paradox into tightly-wound logic chains.
Best deployed when traditional gate logic becomes too rigid or too obvious. A favorite of chaotic thinkers and experimental tacticians.
Usage Advisory:
Recommended for:
Glitch gates, probabilistic triggers
Disruption of predictable rhythmic patterns
Cross-routed patch testing and signal diagnostics
Introducing unpredictable behavior in otherwise stable systems
Unrecommended for:
Stability seekers
Unpatched philosophers
Admirals who fear the Kobayashi Maru
