About:

Artist: Magnus Lassila
Release Year: 1978

Description: Magnus Lassila is a Swedish composer, musician, and sound explorer whose work ranges from ambient electronics and experimental soundscapes to acoustic folk music, jazz, fusion, and the occasional genre that probably shouldn't exist.

Originally a drummer, he later picked up the guitar after noticing that guitarists seemed to attract considerably more attention. One instrument led to another, and before long necessity became habit: if nobody wanted to play the sounds he imagined, he would simply learn to play them himself.

At sixteen he discovered synthesizers and a realization that would permanently alter the course of his musical life: instruments did not merely reproduce sounds—they could create entirely new ones.

Since then, much of his work has revolved around exploring the space between order and chaos. Whether working with modular synthesizers,
acoustic instruments, algorithmic systems, or traditional composition, the goal remains much the same: to build worlds, establish a few simple rules, and listen to what emerges.
His music often combines careful structure with chance operations, allowing systems, instruments, and happy accidents to become collaborators in the creative process.
Sometimes the results behave exactly as intended. More often, they have ideas of their own.

Several hundred compositions later, the collection continues to grow.
The experiments continue.
